How Blue
The words give wings
to what my still enchanted heart resonates
Comingling a certain smile within
and an emptiness without
Then across the miles,
awareness sings its raspy voiced song
Knowing that the only two hearts to hear
are yours and mine
How blue are your eyes,
in the caverns of my memory
Partly inspiration and part divine,
the light still bright in mine
A whisper in the wind that
I believe is carried to your ear
Never to be silenced by logic,
or distance or dread
At nightfall,
the January snows succumb to moonlight
Cold fingers creep along my spine,
shivering my breath
The words give wings
to what my still enchanted heart resonates
And I wonder if you hear me as I ponder how blue
